This decision came just 24 hours after their defeat to West Ham in the Premier League, which dropped them to 14th place in the standings.
Manchester United had shown considerable patience with the Dutch manager, but the results did not meet the expectations of such a prominent club.
Now, a new manager must be appointed swiftly to address the current challenges facing the team.
Ten Hag, who joined United in 2022, managed to secure two trophies during his tenure: the League Cup and the FA Cup.
United has announced that Ruud Van Nistelrooy will step in as the interim manager for the time being.
